The third portable external hard drive we are going to make a review of is the Western Digital My Passport which has 1 TB (or 1,024 Gigabytes) of storage space. You would be amazed at just how compact these units are, to be able to store thousands and thousands of files worth of data at a time, and with such lightning speed, too.

There used to be a time, just a couple of decades ago, when it would take a unit that’s bigger than an office cabinet to store gigabytes of files. And now that we’re in what those people who started it all would consider the future, look at how easy everything is for us now. The WD Passport alone only weighs an amzing 10.9 ounces, and it’s small enough to fit into one of your bag compartments. Compare that to what they started with in the ’80s and I bet nobody in our era would have been able to survive.

In addition to that, the storage units of the past weren’t as user-friendly as what we now have. The first computers actually only had a few megabytes of space available for them (if they’re lucky), and this was just in the early 90′s. Think of how far technology has come now!

“I really like the Western Digital My Passport Studio. It comes with 2 cables, a usb, and a firewire 800 cable. the software included is okay but won’t do much more than what “disk utility” can do on your mac. I’ve been using with time machine on a macbook air and macbook pro and it works great. It feels like it is very high quality and very dense and sturdy. if you want to travel light this may be a little on the heavy side.
